The Spanish office furniture manufacturer Actiu instigated a wonderful charitable initiative among their packed program of events taking place in their London showroom to coincide with Clerkenwell Design Week.
From all entrants, 3 proposals were selected for there appropriateness to the competition brief, of re-purposing/up-cycling encompassing the spirit of the work of Maggies Centres
Our winning proposal “Ways” for the Actiu upcycling design challenge for #cdw2018 & Maggies cancer support centres
Reimagining the iconic badminton chair, Ways reflects the idea that there is always a different viewpoint/way to deal with an single situation. The original single use badminton chair has been converted into two separate pieces, a free standing shelving unit and an independent stool, the expansion and diversity of the original function is intended to reflect the fantastic diversity of support provided by @maggiescentres and provide a broader perspective on the way the objects can be viewed and used.
All three of the selected pieces were auctioned off with all proceeds going to the wonderful @maggiescentres cancer support charity.
